Located in Bondi Road, Bellmont were engaged to diagnose the cause of extensive reinforcement corrosion occurring to the structural members of the building. Corrosion of reinforcing steel in the beams and columns of the building was determined to be the result of chloride ion attack after years of neglect of the building façade. The remedial measures specified by Bellmont included a combination of traditional reinforcement repair methods along with the use of electrochemical techniques relying on sacrificial anodes. Extensive design was required to underpin the building during the works – as the building was required to remain in operation during the works.
