BellMont were engaged by Clisdells Strata Management undertake a review of the likely requirements for remedial works at Wardell Road, Earlwood in an attempt to address the poor condition of the retaining wall on the rear elevation.
An inspection of this site soon revealed that the wall was in a dangerous condition, suffering from extensive concrete spalling. The entire base of the retaining wall had exposed steel reinforcement that was at its most critical stage of corrosion, leaving it incapable of supporting the wall and loads imposed.
To resolve this issue the entire length of the wall (and retained fill) was supported by the construction of a new reinforced shotcrete wall and rock bolt system. The existing dish drain located at the end of the turf level received a new PVC sump installed together with a new 100 mm diameter PVC drainage pipe cored to the base of the retaining wall and exiting into a new pit.
